Submissions to Imagenation (both short and feature films) will be considered for theatrical runs and special programs in our cinema. Filmmakers selected for theatrical runs will enter into an exhibition agreement with Imagenation, and be paid a percentage of the box office receipts. Filmmakers selected for special programs or the Imagenation Film & Music festival will not be paid for their participation, but will benefit from publicity and exposure to the Imagenation audience.

Our programmatic focus is soul cinema*, primarily directed by people of color, in the genres of drama, science fiction, animation, and comedy. We also screen documentaries and experimental films.

*Soul Cinema – movies that explore history, examine social issues, and highlight the humanity of marginalized peoples throughout the African Diaspora.
