Featuring exclusive interviews with exiled activists activists Assata Shakur, former Black Panther Kathleen Cleaver, political prisoner Mutulu Shakur and others, the film Black August: A Hip-Hop Benefit Concert documents the movement behind the annual event that the nonprofit Malcolm X Grassroots Movement has produced, for more than a decade, to raise awareness about and support the political prisoners in the U.S Part concert film, Black August highlights performances in New York, Cuba and South Africa featuring Mos Def, dead prez, Talib Kweli, David Banner, Common, Erikah Badu and others.

ImageNation to Open a Cinema on 125th Street, in the Mart125 site, across the street from the Apollo Theater!
ImageNation is one of two cultural groups selected to open a venue on 125th Street, at the Mart 125 site, directly across the street from the Apollo Theater. Dubbed the ImageNation Sol Cinema, our venue will be Harlem's first and the nation's only permanent art-house movie theater dedicated to Black and Latino film and performance.
Spike Lee celebrated the 20th Anniversary of “Do The Right Thing” with ImageNation at Lincoln Center
ImageNation Cinema Foundation in collaboration with Lincon Center celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Do the Right Thing with Spike Lee in grand style. The historical night took place at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater. Cast and crew members who were on hand to celebrate with Spike Lee include Rosie Perez, John Turturro, John Savage, Roger Guenveur Smith, Joie Lee, Frankie Faison, Ernest Dickerson, Darnell Martin, Monty Ross, Steve Park and Richard Edson. And, Chuck D and Apollo Heights ripped it with a rock rendition of Fight the Power!
